Undead Farmstead launched!
I'm very excited to release Undead Farmstead today!
This game is a Christmas present to my wife Louise. She loves RPG games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley but she also loves zombies. For a long time I've been looking for a game that brings these two elements together but I could not find anything quite right. So in the end I decided to create what I was looking for myself.
This is the first game of this kind I've ever put together. There was a lot learn along the way. What I'm releasing today is the effort of several months and was only just finished on Christmas Eve. I'll admit the game as it stands right now is pretty basic. It has just enough of everything for me to be happy to call it an actual "game" but very little else.
Along the way I had to park so many ideas that would make the game richer in order to hit the Christmas deadline. The one idea I plan to implement soon is zombies setting each other on fire, because I think that would be fun to see in a big herd. Apart from that I will probably limit changes to bug fixes and perhaps better support on mobile (movement and actions currently don't work). And anything Louise asks me to add.
All the other ideas I have put into a bucket that I call "Undead Farmstead 2" in my head. I've learned so much that I really want to go back and start over before implementing a more complex game. Also, while I love the graphics from Kenney, I have different graphics I'd like to switch to. All of this makes me think that that starting over is the next logical step to make a better game.
Anyway, I hope you get some enjoyment from this silly little game!
