Alpha 4


I'm trying to release every 2 weeks... and on that note, here's Alpha 4!

Please note that saved games from previous alpha versions may not load.

Changes of note!

  • Fruit trees grow fruit that can be harvested
  • Crops need to be watered to continuing growing
  • Screen flashes red when your are injured
  • Certain activities require energy, with your current energy level shown just above health
  • Some energy can be restored by eating or sleeping
  • Some health can be restored by sleeping
  • Bugs around sleeping have been fixed
  • All actions are triggered with left click or Space key, freeing up right click and E for Future Things
  • After dying new games and loaded games work correctly — no more disappearing toolbars
  • Menu refreshed and many bugs therein fixed, including open and close using Escape key

Something I've realised in this cycle is how important it is to get as much of the skeleton of all game mechanics in place as early as possible. Consolidating actions to a single input required not one but two rewrites on the action system I've built. What this means is that some things I had thought I'd delay until beta are going to be pulled into alphas. In short, more alphas, fewer betas.
